The Five 8000m Peaks Base Camps and Gondogoro La Trek is the most comprehensive high-altitude trekking adventure in Pakistan, an unforgettable 27-day journey to the base camps of K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak (8,051m), Gasherbrum I (8,080m), Gasherbrum II (8,035m), and Nanga Parbat (8,126m)

This expedition links the iconic Baltoro Glacier and Concordia region in the Karakoram with the pristine Fairy Meadows of the Western Himalayas.

You’ll trek beneath the towering rock spires of the Trango Towers, ascend glaciers to the majestic throne room of Concordia, cross the challenging Gondogoro La Pass (5,585m), and finally stand beneath the killer mountain, Nanga Parbat, from one of the world’s most scenic alpine meadows.

Designed for seasoned trekkers, this fully supported expedition includes acclimatization buffers, experienced guides, porters, and all essential logistics to ensure both safety and success across Pakistan’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1Arrive at Islamabad International Airport, Islamabad

Meet and greet at the airport. Transfer to hotel. Trip briefing, equipment check, and optional sightseeing depending on arrival time.

Day 2Fly to Skardu, Karakoram

Fly to Skardu (weather permitting) with views of Nanga Parbat and the Karakoram giants. If flight is canceled, a two-day road journey via the Karakoram Highway begins.

Day 3Spend free day in Skardu

Free day for acclimatization and logistics. Explore Skardu Bazaar, Kharpocho Fort, or nearby lakes.

Day 4Drive to Askole village

Begin the journey toward the mountains. Jeep ride through Shigar Valley to Askole (3,000m), the last village before Baltoro Glacier.

Day 5Trek from Askole to Jhola via the Biafo Glacier

Start trekking along the Braldu River. Cross the Biafo Glacier and arrive at Jhola campsite.

Day 06Trek from Jhola to Paiju following the Braldu River

Trek along the Braldu Valley with views of Paiju Peak. Camp at Paiju (3,450m), near the Baltoro Glacier.

Day 07 Acclimatize and rest in Paiju

Full day for rest and acclimatization. Optional hike above camp for glacier views.

Day 08 Trek from Paiju to Khoburtse

Enter the Baltoro Glacier. Trek to Khoburtse with views of Trango Towers and Uli Biaho.

Day 09 Cross small glaciers and walk to Urdukus

Trek past glacier side valleys and reach Urdukus (4,050m), a beautiful viewpoint over granite spires.

Day 10 Trek to Goro II, the junction of Baltoro glaciers and Younghusband

Move higher onto the glacier. Goro II (4,250m) sits in a dramatic icy amphitheater of peaks.

Day 11Trek to Concordia through rocky moraine

Trek to Concordia (4,600m), the heart of the Karakoram, with sweeping views of K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum IV, and more.

Day 12 Trek to Broad Peak BC, Gilkey Memorial, and K2 Base Camp

Trek along Godwin-Austen Glacier to Broad Peak BC and onward to K2 Base Camp (5,150m), the crown jewel of the Karakoram. Visit the Gilkey Memorial. Return to Concordia.

Day 13 Trek back to Concordia and rest

Easy return to Concordia and full rest day to recover before heading into the Gasherbrum Valley.

Day 14 Trek to Shahring

Turn away from the main trail and enter the Gasherbrum Valley. Camp at Shahring, a remote area below towering ice walls.

Day 15 Trek to Gasherbrum I & II Base Camp

Hike into the shadow of the Gasherbrum massif. Stand at the base of both Gasherbrum I (8,080m) and Gasherbrum II (8,035m). Return to Shahring or camp at BC.

Day 16 Trek back to Concordia and rest

Return to Concordia for final views of the Baltoro colossus. Rest and prepare for the pass crossing.

Day 17 Trek to Ali Camp

Cross crevassed glacier terrain toward Ali Camp (5,100m). Early dinner and sleep for alpine start.

Day 18 Cross Gondogoro La and descend to Khuispang

Begin before dawn. Cross Gondogoro La (5,585m) with sunrise views over K2, Gasherbrum, Broad Peak, and Laila Peak. Descend steeply to Khuispang.

Day 19 Trek to Saicho

Trek downhill through green valleys to Saicho (3,350m), a lush oasis after icy days.

Day 20 Trek to Hushe and drive to Skardu town

Complete the trek at Hushe village. Drive back to Skardu for hot showers and celebration dinner.

Day 21 Contingency Day/Rest in Skardu

Buffer day in case of weather delays. Explore Skardu town or rest after the glacier journey.

Day 22 Drive to Raikot Bridge, Chilas

Drive along the Indus River to Raikot Bridge, gateway to Nanga Parbat region. Overnight at local lodge or camp.

Day 23 Drive to Tatu and hike to Fairy Meadows

Switch to local jeeps for the thrilling ride to Tatu village, then hike (~3 hours) through pine forest to reach Fairy Meadows (3,300m).

Day 24 Trek to Beyal Camp

Hike through alpine trails to Beyal Camp, offering dramatic views of Nanga Parbat’s massive Rupal Face.

Day 25 Trek to Nanga Parbat Base Camp

Trek further to Nanga Parbat Base Camp (approx. 3,800–4,000m). Spend time exploring, taking photos, and reflecting at the base of the ninth-highest mountain in the world.

Day 26 Return to Fairy Meadows

Retrace your steps to Fairy Meadows for a final night under the stars near this Himalayan giant.

Day 27 Drive to Islamabad via Karakoram Highway or Babusar Pass

Descend to Raikot and drive back to Islamabad (long day, ~12–14 hours), passing dramatic scenery along the Karakoram Highway or via Babusar Pass (seasonal).

When is the best season to do this trek?

Mid-June to late August offers the best weather window for both Baltoro and Fairy Meadows routes.

How difficult is the trek?

This is a strenuous, high-altitude trek covering glaciers, moraine, and steep passes. Excellent fitness and previous multi-day trekking experience above 4,000m are highly recommended.

Is Gondogoro La Pass technical?

It involves steep snow and ice sections. Fixed ropes and harnesses are used. The crossing is led by experienced rope team members.

 

Is the Nanga Parbat section separate?

Yes—it begins after the Baltoro circuit and includes road travel to Raikot Bridge before hiking into the Himalayas.

Can I do only part of the trek?

Custom options may be available upon request, but this specific itinerary is designed as a full circuit.

What’s the accommodation like?
